Return to Valencia

In 1968, after the loss of Sidi Ifni, the family of Paz Arés Osset returned to live in Valencia. This return marked the beginning of a new stage in the artist's life, and Valencia would become the setting for her adolescence and the beginnings of her teaching career. Adapting to the new life in Valencia was a challenge, but also an opportunity for Paz's personal and professional growth.

Educational Challenges

Upon joining the Colegio de las Escolapias, Paz faced a significant academic gap. The educational level in Valencia was much more advanced than what she had received in Sidi Ifni, which made her feel frustrated and overwhelmed. Her innate perfectionism drove her to study tirelessly, trying to catch up and surpass her classmates. This constant effort, though exhausting, was a manifestation of her determination and desire for success.

Meeting Marina Moscardó

The academic pressure led Paz to moments of crying and despair in the school corridors. It was during one of these moments when Marina Moscardó, a classmate, approached her. With empathy and kindness, Marina helped her integrate into the school's social circles, providing Paz with the emotional support she desperately needed. This friendship not only offered her comfort but also opened the door to a richer and more balanced social life.

Passion for Las Fallas

Valencia, with its rich cultural tradition and vibrant festive life, introduced Paz Arés Osset to one of its most emblematic celebrations: Las Fallas. This festival, celebrated every year in March, immediately captured Paz's attention and heart. Las Fallas are known for their impressive papier-mâché, wood, and other material monuments, which are built throughout the year only to be burned on March 19th, Saint Joseph's Day. This ritual of creation and destruction symbolizes the transience of life and became a deep source of inspiration for Paz.

Academic and Professional Aspirations

Education has always been a deep passion for Paz Arés Osset. Inspired by her love of learning and her desire to positively influence the lives of others, Paz decided in 1970, along with her friend Marina Moscardó, to study Teaching at the Escuela de Profesores de Valencia. This decision reflected not only her commitment to education but also her determination to become a force for change and support for future generations.

Influence of Valencia on her Life and Work

The time Paz Arés Osset spent in Valencia was a decisive period in her life, marked by the city's rich culture and deep traditions. Valencia, with its vibrant festivities, impressive architecture, and active community life, offered Paz an environment conducive to personal and artistic growth. The city became a reference point and a constant source of inspiration that significantly influenced her work.

Floral Games

When Paz Arés Osset was a child, she received a very special invitation that filled her with pride and excitement. The mayor of Valencia, recognizing her grace, charm, and potential, personally sent her a letter inviting her to join the Cort d'Honor de la Regina dels Jocs Florals de Valencia. This festival, of great cultural and social relevance in the region, not only celebrated Valencian traditions but also honored young women who stood out in the community.
